ISVAG invests in a virtual IT infrastructure with replication and back-up solution

Edegem, 11 August 2008

ISVAG is an inter-municipal collaboration between the cities of Antwerp and Mortsel and the councils of Boom, Puurs, Niel and Hemiksem.
Following an extensive audit and at the advice of Cheops Technology, ISVAG decided to expand and modernise its IT infrastructure.
This modernisation devotes a lot of attention to high availability and disaster recovery by using advanced technologies such as replication and virtualisation.

In setting up a virtual environment based on VMware Infrastructure Enterprise Edition, Cheops has succeeded in drastically reducing the number of servers.
These servers are replicated to another location in order to guarantee the continuity of the systems at all times.

The HP StorageWorks Modular Smart Array (MSA) 2012i is used as the centralised storage unit which will be backed up online to the Cheops Datacenter.

The combination of a virtual environment with replication based on Doubletake Data Protection & Recovery will provide ISVAG with an exceptionally high-availability solution.
This will reduce downtime to the absolute minimum as well as drastically reducing the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) due to the significant savings in the areas of energy and infrastructure.

This solution is integrated and maintained in collaboration with Cheops under a strict SLA and thanks to advanced monitoring tools.
