Growing interest in virtualisation among Belgian SMEs

Belgian SMEs are interested in virtual servers, although they are not yet standard in this market. A study conducted by Microsoft as part of the Ultimate Makeover contest for SMEs revealed that a quarter already use virtualisation or have plans to do so.

A total of 193 Belgian businesses completed a questionnaire at Ultimatemakeover.be. The results revealed that 54% of respondents had businesses with one, two or three servers. Around 10% had more than three, while 36% said that they did not have any servers at all. Virtual servers are growing in popularity, with 11% of respondents stating that they use virtualisation to some extent and 2% reporting full virtualisation. A further 16% intend to make a start on virtualisation, while 53% of respondents said they had decided not to proceed down this route, and 18% did not yet know if they would.
