Server virtualisation ensures that several servers can be installed on the same platform in the form of virtual machines, so that servers remain completely separated from each other. More or less processing capacity and memory can be assigned to particular virtual sessions by means of adjustable policies. This results in significant savings in hardware; on average we can achieve a server consolidation of 1:6, but we also know of cases where virtual systems will do the work previously done by 20 separate hardware platforms.
